What is this nation that will take over from America?
MLK describes it as ignorant of God's Name. There is really no nation that has not heard of God, so perhaps what is meant here is a nation that ignores or denies God on a large scale, or forbids the people from mentioning His Name or anything to do with religion. And this description only fits communist country practicing official and compulsory atheism.
Also, that or those countries must be in a position to America's place and wield world power in is stead. At the time Dr King spoke those prophetic words, only the USSR fitted the profile: powerful and atheistic. Today, there is also China. However, neither China nor Russia can be described as nations ignorant of God.Perhaps then the takeover will be done by a power yet to emerge - in which case America's backbone is to remain whole for a little while longer.
Let's all hope that it will use the extra time to stop spreading violence and "change her ways." That'd be so good for all of us"
